Several changes have been made to the the speech and debate schedule for the remainder of the school year due to COVID-19 and efforts to limit exposure and the spread of the virus. These are difficult decisions to make and we are grateful to the leadership shown by all of these organizations to put the health and wellness of all students, teachers, parents, and community members first.
The MSHSAA State Speech, Debate, and Theatre Tournament has been cancelled.
IPPF has cancelled their in-person debates for the Elite Eight. The executive committee is looking at alternate options for the remaining rounds. This information will be communicated with Ladue’s Elite Eight team.
As of now, NCFL is planning on hosting the national tournament in May as scheduled. However, registration and hotel reservation deadlines are being pushed back. The dates will be released after the NCFL executive committee has made final decisions. Saint Louis has made the choice to delay our decision on attending and the bid process until April.
The NSDA has cancelled all remaining in-person district tournaments through the end of the school year. They are looking at options for alternate methods of qualification. The Eastern Missouri District Committee will be meeting virtually later this week to discuss options. Information will be shared when it is available. As of now, NSDA is planning on hosting the national tournament in June as scheduled. A final decision will be made by May 1st.
