Ladue Horton Watkins High School

The Ladue Rams Boys Swimming & Diving Team hosted a tri-meet with the Eureka Wildcats and the McCluer North Stars on Tuesday, September 15th. Despite missing a key swimmer, the Rams competed extremely well in every event and scored 141 points to win the meet, in front of Eureka with 125 and North at 45. The outcome takes the Rams to 1-0-0 (first-second-third) in tri-meets, with a Red Conference 2-0 record and 1-2 overall in dual meets to date. The Rams utilized their strong team depth at the meet. The Rams had five individual event wins - double event-winner FR Kelson Cui (200 IM, 100 breast) along with JR Luther Ciorba (1M diving), SO Dravya Pradhan (100 fly) and JR co-captain Kevin Wu (100 back). These wins were good for 35 team points. Notably, the Rams won two of the three relays as well, a huge factor in winning the meet, scoring another 28 team points in the process. The Rams then tacked on 78 team depth points to complete the win. The numerous individual Rams who scored in 2nd-6th places using tri-meet scoring included SO Alvin He (5th 200 free, 5th 500 free), SO Jinghuan Xu (4th 200 IM, 3rd 100 breast), SR co-captain Arlo Ziolkowski (tie for 2nd 50 free, 2nd 100 free), JR Brighton Westermayer (2nd 1M diving), JR Eliot Levine (5th 100 fly), SR Sam Etherington (5th 100 free, 4th 100 back), and FR Reed Sehy (3rd 500 free). As mentioned, two Rams A relays won – the 200 medley of Wu, Cui, Levine, and Ziolkowski, and the 400 free of Ziolkowski, Levine, Pradhan, and Wu. The Rams A 200 free relay of Levine, SO Max Bending, FR Ray Blum and Pradhan took 2nd. The Rams B free relays contributed as well, both taking 3rd place – the 200 of SR Carson Crane, SR Oscar Yanuck, Sehy and He, and the 400 of Bending, He, Sehy, and Cui. The Rams B 200 medley relay of Etherington, Xu, Yanuck and Bending took 4th. A great showing by the Rams relays! One Rams state cut was lowered at the meet – Cui in the 100 breast (1:05.71). The Rams continue to place seven individuals and all three relays qualified on the State list. The Rams now have back-to-back road meets – first, up the road to MICDS on Thursday the 17th for the annual “War on Warson” tri-meet, along with CBC, and then down to Lindbergh on Tuesday the 22nd for a dual meet with the Flyers.
